Graphene & GIANCE: Innovative Solutions and Future EU Funding Opportunities
Hybrid Workshop, Paris, 4th March 2024 – The integration of graphene into industrial applications is gaining momentum, offering groundbreaking possibilities for sustainability, performance and innovation. Recognising this potential, the recent GIANCE hybrid workshop brought together experts, researchers and industry leaders to explore advancements in graphene-related materials and their applications within the GIANCE project.
The workshop began with an in-depth look at the GIANCE project – its purpose, innovations and achievements so far. Presentations covered key topics such as recyclable graphene composites for diverse applications, advanced coatings and composite structures embedded with sensors for structural health monitoring. Additionally, discussions highlighted the recycling technologies considered within GIANCE, reinforcing the project’s commitment to circular economy principles. We also had the pleasure of a guest talk by 2D BioPAD – Grapheal, which showcased the role of graphene-based biosensors in healthcare, underlining the versatility of graphene-related materials. The second half of the workshop shifted focus to upcoming Horizon Europe funding opportunities, particularly calls relevant to graphene and 2D materials. Attendees collaborated in a brainstorming session to align graphene technologies with these funding avenues, identifying key challenges, potential solutions and new opportunities for industrial adoption.
By fostering dialogue and collaboration, the workshop emphasised Europe’s drive to integrate graphene innovations into real-world applications, paving the way for a more sustainable and technologically advanced future.
